wissen, was darin steht :-)

1. Motivation

zunehmend gestiegen.

werden (siehe Anhang A).

ausgewaehlte Teilbestaende. Bei Interesse an weiteren Gruppen ist der
uebliche Verfahrensweg ueber den lokalen Newsverwalter einzuschlagen.

Anhang A - Konfiguration fuer die Verwaltung moderierter Gruppen

Cnews:
In '/usr/lib/news' (bzw. '/usr/local/lib/news', also dort,
	Inhalt

		all uunet!%s

aufweist. Diese Datei enthaelt die eMail-Adressen von
moderierten Gruppen, wobei der Sammeleintrag 'all' alle
Gruppen betrifft, die nicht vorstehend erwaehnt wurden.
	Allgemein ist das Format

	also im speziellen Fall beispielsweise

		all HanNet.han.de!%s

	An : Wilfried Behne @ H
	MId :

	Hello GEM developer,

	IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOLLOWS

The GEM user interface has recently matured into a generally
non-modal, multi-tasking environment. Thanks to many developers
such as 2B (Mag!X), Gribnif (Geneva) and authors of many
excellent GEM programs (mainly in Germany, but also in the US, UK
and other countries) we now have a very nice environment to work
	with.

One of the main problems for users, which have been exprssed to
me by many users is the lack of standards, or that there are too
many standards. It seems the German programmers have got their
keyboard shortcuts sorted, but some of their standards contradict
the Atari Style Guide as published in the Atari Compendium and
	the developer docs from Atari.

Since Atari do not seem to be getting invloved in this area, it's
about time that some communication started between developers
across the globe. The Atari market is too small for too many
systems. Both Geneva and Mag!X should maintain a high degree of
compatibility, and authors of programs should do as much as
possible to keep to the standards.

The problem is now to agree on a standard interface, and the
first topic I would like to discuss is the issue of keyboard
shortcuts. I have laid out a proposal for a standard and have
discussed it at length on CIX - the UK main BBS for ST
users/programmers. My proposal is a PROPOSAL, I do not wish to
dictate my ideas. I just want a standard to work to.

I invite you alnog with many other developers to take part in
this discussion. If we reach agreement, I will personally make
sure that the standard is published in several ST magazines,
placed on FTP sites and is also available in a printed form at a
minimal cost to cover printing cost.

Yat Siu of Lexicor has been kind enough to allow use of his
system to start a mail list for this purpose. I have to stress
here that Lexicor do not have any 'special' interest in this
discussion, although I am sure Yat will want to express his
opinions just like everyone else. I urge everyone to put
competition aside and to join the mail list. Once we got the
keyboard shortcuts standardised we can look at universal
implementation of the VA_START protocol, a FAX protocol, adding
menu items to programs (Windows style), enhanced GEM Clipboard
and anything else we think is useful.

The mail list is ready for use, once there are enough people
subscribed I will post my keyboard shortcuts proposal and
discussion can start. I already have incorporated some
ammendments suggested by Wilfried Behne (Mag!X, NVDI).

	==============================================================
To join send mail to majordomo@world.std.com

	With the content:

	subscribe gem-list

To send a message to the mail list use the following address:

	gem-list@world.std.com
	==============================================================

I look forward to your suggestions.

	Ofir Gal

	Bye,

	Ofir ogal@cix.compulink.co.uk

Anhang Z3 - hannet.ml.cycle.hpv

Information on the Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) Discussion List [11-Jul-94]

The HPV list is for the discussion of issues related to the design,
construction, and operation of human-powered vehicles and closely
related kin. (Hybrid human/electric, for example.) Discussion is most
definitely NOT limited to recumbent bicycles, but most of the current
	list members ride recumbents.

	---------------------
	How it works

As a subscriber, you receive a copy of each message sent to the list,
and you can contribute by sending mail to hpv@zippy.sonoma.edu.

	---------------------
How to subscribe (it's free, by the way)

To subscribe to the list, send an email message containing the following
single line in the message, to this address: majordomo@zippy.sonoma.edu

	        subscribe hpv

To unsubscribe, send a mail message containing the following:

	        unsubscribe hpv

If you want the mail from the list to go to a different address than
the one you are sending from, append the new address. For example, if
your normal address is joe@smith.edu and you want to subscribe a local
distribution list called hpv_l@smith.edu, send this command to majordomo:

	        subscribe hpv hpv_l@smith.edu

There will be a delay in this case, because the human administrator
of the list has to approve commands submitted this way.

If you want to get a list of commands that majordomo understands,
send this message to the same address:

	        help

NOTE that the 'index' command for getting files from the archives
is not currently functional. Sorry. :-(

Anhang Z4 - hannet.ml.germnews

Your subscription to the GERMNEWS list (German News) has been accepted.

Please save this message for future reference, especially if you are not
familiar with LISTSERV. This might look like a waste of disk space now, but in
6 months you will be glad you saved this information when you realize that you
cannot remember what are the lists you are subscribed to, or what is the
command to leave the list to avoid filling up your mailbox while you are on
vacations. In fact, you should create a new mail folder for subscription
confirmation messages like this one, and for the "welcome messages" from the
list owners that you will occasionally receive after subscribing to a new list.

To send a message to all the people currently subscribed to the list, just send
mail to GERMNEWS@DEARN. This is called "sending mail to the list", because you
send mail to a single address and LISTSERV makes copies for all the people who
have subscribed. This address (GERMNEWS@DEARN) is also called the "list
address". You must never try to send any command to that address, as it would
be distributed to all the people who have subscribed. All commands must be sent
to the "LISTSERV address", LISTSERV@DEARN.BITNET (or LISTSERV@VM.GMD.DE). It is
very important to understand the difference between the two, but fortunately it
is not complicated. The LISTSERV address is like a FAX number, and the list
address is like a normal phone line. If you make your FAX call someone's
regular phone number by mistake, it will be an unpleasant experience for him
but you will probably be excused the first time. If you do it regularly,
however, he will probably get upset and send you a nasty complaint. It is the
same with mailing lists, with the difference that you are calling hundreds or
thousands of people at the same time, so a lot more people get annoyed if you
	use the wrong number.

You may leave the list at any time by sending a "SIGNOFF GERMNEWS" command to
LISTSERV@DEARN.BITNET (or LISTSERV@VM.GMD.DE). You can also tell LISTSERV how
you want it to confirm the receipt of messages you send to the list. If you do
not trust the system, send a "SET GERMNEWS REPRO" command and LISTSERV will
send you a copy of your own messages, so that you can see that the message was
distributed and did not get damaged on the way. After a while you may find that
this is getting annoying, especially if your mail program does not tell you
that the message is from you when it informs you that new mail has arrived from
GERMNEWS. If you send a "SET GERMNEWS ACK NOREPRO" command, LISTSERV will mail
you a short acknowledgement instead, which will look different in your mailbox
directory. With most mail programs you will know immediately that this is an
acknowledgement you can read later. Finally, you can turn off acknowledgements
completely with "SET GERMNEWS NOACK NOREPRO".

Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can get a list
of the available archive files by sending an "INDEX GERMNEWS" command to
LISTSERV@DEARN.BITNET (or LISTSERV@VM.GMD.DE). You can then order these files
with a "GET GERMNEWS LOGxxxx" command, or using LISTSERV's database search
facilities. Send an "INFO DATABASE" command for more information on the latter.

Please note that it is presently possible for other people to determine that
you are signed up to the list through the use of the "REVIEW" command, which
returns the e-mail address and name of all the subscribers. If you do not want
your name to be visible, just issue a "SET GERMNEWS CONCEAL" command.

More information on LISTSERV commands can be found in the LISTSERV reference
card, which you can retrieve by sending an "INFO REFCARD" command to
	LISTSERV@DEARN.BITNET (or LISTSERV@VM.GMD.DE).

LST_Channel_Members Liste der Mitglieder auf dem lst-channel mit kurzer
Angabe, was Sie tun, worin Sie sich auskennen und

LST_Packages_HOWTO Informationen und Konventionen rund um die

	C) Konventionen/Policies
	------------------------
	Bitte folgende Konventionen beachten !!!

"einfachen/RTFM" Mailaufkommen diesen Channel wieder verlassen.

Welcome to the geriatric-neuropsychiatry electronic conference!

ATTENTION: If nothing else, PLEASE read or at least check the Section
3 below. Otherwise you are probably going to make mistakes which make
you look foolish and annoy all the other participants of the conference.
I would STRONGLY recommend that you save this file for future reference.

	:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Warnings and Disclaimers (mainly legal and about the usability of the
	information)

If you decide to remain subscribed to this mailing list, your doing so
indicates agreement by you to the terms and conditions to be found in
the two paragraphs below. PLEASE unsubscribe from this list if you
	are unable to agree.

<1> Neither InterPsych, the geriatric-neuropsychiatry list owner, nor any
contributor can be held liable in any way for any information and/or
data made available, or omitted, from information distributed to the
subscribers to this mailing list. The information distributed may or
may not have been checked for accuracy.

<2> By your use of this mailing list, you agree to hold harmless
InterPsych, the geriatric-neuropsychiatry list owner, and all
contributors against ANY AND ALL CLAIMS arising out of such use,
regardless of the cause, effects, or fault.

If you do not agree to the provisions of the two paragraphs
immediately above, please unsubscribe from geriatric-neuropsychiatry
using the directions provided in SECTION 8 of this document.

	:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Contents of the rest of this intro:

	Section 1: Introduction
Section 2: Purpose of the conference
Section 3: Where to send your messages
Section 4: About the conference operator
Section 5: Archives (a future feature)
Section 6: Getting a list of conference participants
	Section 7: How to behave
Section 8: Joining or leaving geriatric-neuropsychiatry
	Section 9: InterPsych

	:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Section 1: Introduction and a note about case-(in)sensitivity

This is your introduction and guide to the geriatric-neuropsychiatry
electronic conference, a special interest group (SIG) within
InterPsych. If you want to be an effective user of, and contributor
to, the conference please read this document carefully, and retain it
	for future reference.

	A word regarding notation:

In this document, required elements of a command to the Netcom computers
are contained in square brackets [ ]. Optional elements of a command are
placed in braces { }. Electronic mail addresses and commands to the
computer are case insensitive. That is to say, the command
"unsubscribe geriatric-neuro" is equivalent to the command
	"Unsubscribe Geriatric-Neuro"

	:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Section 2: Purpose Of The Conference.

This conference has been set up to encourage an exchange of ideas,
opinions, and information among persons concerned with neurobehavioral
disorders in middle-aged and elderly adults. For purposes of this
discussion, 'neurobehavioral disorders' are defined as medical or neurologic
disorders leading to changes in cognition, mood, perception or behavior.
Discussion of topics related to primary (non-neurological) psychiatric
disorders, psychosocial issues or geriatric medicine is also welcomed.
Although this list is primarily intended for clinicians, input from
caregivers, basic scientists and other concerned individuals is welcomed.

As older adults make up an ever-increasing proportion of the population,
the prevalence of neurobehavioral disorders is continuing to climb.
Alzheimer disease, for example, strikes nearly 50% of people over age 80.
While the U.S. is currently estimated to have 4 million cases, it is
projected that this will increase to 14 million by 2050, with the largest
increase in the oldest members of our society. Caring for this population
will represent the single greatest challenge to our current healthcare
systems. This electronic discussion group is intended to stimulate dialog
among clinicians in the related fields of geriatric medicine, behavioral
neurology, geriatric psychiatry and neuropsychology to better treat these
	patients.

Diagnostic categories within the scope of this discussion may include (but
	are not limited to):

		* Alzheimer disease
		* Frontal lobe degenerations
		* Parkinson's disease and other extrapyramidal disorders
		* Vascular dementia
		* Huntington's disease
		* Secondary ('organic') mood disorders
		* Delirium (acute confusional states)

Specific topics that may be discussed might include:

		* Investigational drugs for treating Alzheimer disease
		* Use of atypical antipsychotics in Parkinson's disease
		* Legal issues, including competency
		* Pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management of agitation
		* Diagnostic considerations in neurobehavioral disorders
		* Use of dopamine agonists in frontal lobe dysfunction
		* Role of anticonvulsants in managing behavioral problems
		* Providing supportive services to family members

As a general rule, the list should be kept scholarly and 'psycho-chat'
should be frowned upon. However, antecdotal information is welcomed
if it is indicated as such.

	:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

	+------------+
! Section 3: ! Where to send your messages
	+------------+

	1. Responding only to the person who posted the message

If you wish to respond only to the person posting a contribution to
the conference, simply use the REPLY function, or address your message
manually to that individual. IF YOU USE THE "FOLLOW-UP" FUNCTION,
YOUR REPLY WILL BE SENT TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE CONFERENCE.

	2. geriatric-neuro@netcom.com

... is the address to use when making a new contribution to the conference.
Use the FOLLOW-UP function to respond to messages already posted in the
conference, provided you wish your reply to go to all conference members.
If your mailing program does not support FOLLOW-UP, reply by hand to the
	above address.

	3. listserv@netcom.com

... is the address to send your commands and requests. Remember,
listserv is a computer program and so you must be careful to type your
commands accurately in order to achieve the desired result.

ALL COMMANDS CONCERNING YOUR SUBSCRIPTION TO THE CONFERENCE,
LEAVING THE CONFERENCE, AND QUERYING FOR THE LIST OF PARTICIPANTS
MUST BE SENT TO THIS ADDRESS.

The most common problem is how to leave the conference. Simply,
send a message with no subject, containing only one line:

		unsubscribe geriatric-neuro

	to the address listserv@netcom.com

Other commands are described in subsequent sections. If you normally
end your messages with a signature, or if your mailing system
automatically issues your signature, you should type "end" as the last
command line. This prevents the listserv software from interpreting
your name and address as a series of commands. If your request to
listserv is the only text in the body of your message, you need not
	type "end".

	4. Finally,

	mikeusman@aol.com

... is the best address to use to contact the operator of the conference.

	:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Section 4: About the conference operator

For those of you who care about such things, my backround is:

		B.S. (Zoology & Psychology/Neuroscience) - U of Mass, 1984
		M.D. - NY Medical College, 1988
Internship (Internal Medicine) - Allegheny General/Medical
		 College of PA, 1989
Residency (Psychiatry) - Western Psych. Inst./U of Pittsburgh, 1992
Fellowship (Behavioral Neurology) - Nat'l. Inst. of Aging/
		 U of Pittsburgh, 1992

I am currently the director of the Memory and Movement Disorder Programs,
Dept. of Psychiatry and Allegheny Neuropsychiatric Institute, Allegheny
General Hospital, Medical College of PA and Hahnemann University,
Allegheny Campus. My address and phone/fax numbers are given below.

	:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

	Section 5: Archives

In the future, several files maybe available from the
	geriatric-neuropsychiatry
archives. To receive these files you can use anonymous ftp, or to send
	listserv the command

	        get geriatric-neuro [file name]

	Currently, no files are available.

	:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Section 6: Getting a list of conference participants

To get a current list of conference participants, listed alphabetically by
surname, complete with e-mail addresses, send the following message to
	listserv:

	        Who geriatric-neuro
	        {end}

You will get back a mail message with the subject heading "Listserv
	Results".

	:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

	Section 7: How to behave

Following these guidelines will help keep the conference focused and
	constructive.

	(1) Please be courteous. Hostile replies will only serve to stifle
	discussion in the conference.

	(2) Keep messages as brief as possible (e.g., only "repost" essential
	text from previous contributions).

(2a) Especially, check the end of your message. Many mailing programs
automatically include the text of the article you are replying for you
to comment. Too often all the text from a message which is replied is
included at the end of the reply, without the replier even noticing
it. You may delete all but the remarks that you are responding to,
annotate these remarks so that it is clear you are responding to them
(for example: On 11/25/94, John Smith wrote:), inject your response, and
	send the message.

	(3) If you are replying to someone else's contribution, and plan to
send your reply to the conference, briefly quote or summarize that
contribution before you offer your reply. Doing so will make your
message clearer and avoid confusion. (New subscribers are continually
joining the conference. They may not have read the original message.
Because several topics are often being discussed in the conference,
even long-time subscribers may not remember what prompted your remarks
	unless you remind them).

	(4) ALWAYS put your name and e-mail address at the end of every
contribution. (It is important that people be able to contact you
privately if they wish, and some mail systems do not identify the
writer anywhere in the header). Information at the end is called
signature. Avoid signatures longer than four lines. (I know, I know...
mine is eight lines. I didn't write all of these recommendations.)

	(5) Use "subject" lines that are as informative as possible, so
readers can determine if your contribution is of interest to them.
If you are replying, check whether the original subject is valid or not.

	(6) When topic of lengthy contributions (more than 50-100 lines) is
not clear from the subject line, please write a brief (10-25 word)
abstract at the beginning of the message so that readers can determine
whether your contribution is relevant to their interests. Conference
participants using commercial on line services such as Delphi and
Compuserve must often pay extra for large messages. Therefore, please
indicate in your subject line the size of large contributions.

	(7) Please remember that this is an international and cross-cultural
discussion. Thus, be sensitive to cultural, religious, and racial
issues so that your messages are more likely to be interpreted as
	intended.

	:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Section 8: Joining or leaving geriatric-neuropsychiatry

(If you received this guide by virtue of having joined the
geriatric-neuropsychiatry conference, you may ignore the following.)

listserv@netcom.com -- leaving the subject line blank:

	subscribe geriatric-neuro
	{end}

To LEAVE the geriatric-neuropsychiatry discussion conference, send the
	following
message to listserv@netcom.com -- leaving the subject
	line blank:

	unsubscribe geriatric-neuro

New members are encouraged to introduce themselves using the template
below, or another format of their choosing. When you have completed
the template, please post it back to the geriatric-neuro list.

Please read the following lines carefully to avoid unnecessary problems.

	- This list is meant for everyone who wants to discuss problems concerning
installation and/or use of the emTeX package and to be informed about bugs,
fixes and new releases. It sometimes has a traffic of about 5-7 mails per

	  don't sign on.

	- The conversation language is ENGLISH.

	- The list is maintained "by hand" so please be patient if a request is
	  not answered immediately.

	- For people living in America, Australia, Africa or Asia:
As one can see from the addresses listed below our host running the list
is located in Berlin, Germany. So some messages might be delayed if the
	  transatlantic lines are down.

	- Address of the list, expanded to all members (about 700 at present):

	        emtex-user@chemie.fu-berlin.de

	- Address of the list maintainers for mail problems and (un)subscribing:

Welcome to the NETSCAPE list (Discussion of Netscape).

NETSCAPE (Discussion of Netscape) is an unmoderated forum. Anything goes, as
long as it goes about Netscape.

Netscape is a World Wide Web browser. Versions are produced for Microsoft
Windows, UNIX, and Apple Macintosh machines.

Netscape is a trademark of Netscape Communications Corporation. University
College Dublin has no connection with this organisation.

This mailing list has been set up in our own time using spare resources. There
was no consultation with University College Dublin or Netscape Communications
	Corporation.

Comments should be sent to the list owners:

	Fin Keleher fin@irlearn.ucd.ie

	Simon Walsh walshs@irlearn.ucd.ie

Please save this message for future reference, especially if you are not
familiar with LISTSERV. This might look like a waste of disk space now, but in
6 months you will be glad you saved this information when you realize that you
cannot remember what are the lists you are subscribed to, or what is the
command to leave the list to avoid filling up your mailbox while you are on
vacations. In fact, you should create a new mail folder for subscription
confirmation messages like this one, and for the "welcome messages" from the
list owners that you are will occasionally receive after subscribing to a new
	list.

To send a message to all the people currently subscribed to the list, just send
mail to NETSCAPE@IRLEARN.UCD.IE. This is called "sending mail to the list",
because you send mail to a single address and LISTSERV makes copies for all the
people who have subscribed. This address (NETSCAPE@IRLEARN.UCD.IE) is also
called the "list address". You must never try to send any command to that
address, as it would be distributed to all the people who have subscribed. All
commands must be sent to the "LISTSERV address", LISTSERV@IRLEARN.BITNET (or
LISTSERV@IRLEARN.UCD.IE). It is very important to understand the difference
between the two, but fortunately it is not complicated. The LISTSERV address is
like a FAX number, and the list address is like a normal phone line. If you
make your FAX call someone's regular phone number by mistake, it will be an
unpleasant experience for him but you will probably be excused the first time.
If you do it regularly, however, he will probably get upset and send you a
nasty complaint. It is the same with mailing lists, with the difference that
you are calling hundreds or thousands of people at the same time, so a lot more
people get annoyed if you use the wrong number.

You may leave the list at any time by sending a "SIGNOFF NETSCAPE" command to
LISTSERV@IRLEARN.BITNET (or LISTSERV@IRLEARN.UCD.IE). You can also tell
LISTSERV how you want it to confirm the receipt of messages you send to the
list. If you do not trust the system, send a "SET NETSCAPE REPRO" command and
LISTSERV will send you a copy of your own messages, so that you can see that
the message was distributed and did not get damaged on the way. After a while
you may find that this is getting annoying, especially if your mail program
does not tell you that the message is from you when it informs you that new
mail has arrived from NETSCAPE. If you send a "SET NETSCAPE ACK NOREPRO"
command, LISTSERV will mail you a short acknowledgement instead, which will
look different in your mailbox directory. With most mail programs you will know
immediately that this is an acknowledgement you can read later. Finally, you
can turn off acknowledgements completely with "SET NETSCAPE NOACK NOREPRO".

Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can get a list
of the available archive files by sending an "INDEX NETSCAPE" command to
LISTSERV@IRLEARN.BITNET (or LISTSERV@IRLEARN.UCD.IE). You can then order these
files with a "GET NETSCAPE LOGxxxx" command, or using LISTSERV's database
search facilities. Send an "INFO DATABASE" command for more information on the
	latter.

Please note that it is presently possible for anybody to determine that you are
signed up to the list through the use of the "REVIEW" command, which returns
the e-mail address and name of all the subscribers. If you do not want your
name to be visible, just issue a "SET NETSCAPE CONCEAL" command.

More information on LISTSERV commands can be found in the LISTSERV reference
card, which you can retrieve by sending an "INFO REFCARD" command to
	LISTSERV@IRLEARN.BITNET (or LISTSERV@IRLEARN.UCD.IE).
